Change of Header Image……

Header image includes the Cross of Lorraine with Lily of the Valley around it and the Flames of Resistance. This was a lapel badge design to raise funds for the Moussey Memorial that will be completed in 2026. The dedication of the Moussey Memorial will take place on May 1st commencing at 12 Noon in the Allied Special Forces Memorial Grove at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. DE13 7AR.

We have replaced the Mountain Ash tree that was suffering damage from wind and flooding recently with a Holly – Ilex xaltaclerensis ‘Lawsoniana’. This is just behind the memorial honouring Harry Hudson who served with Force 316 in the Far East during WW2.

420 Hedging Bird feeding plants have been approved by the Woodland Trust for delivery in 2026 for planting in the Grove.

Overnight rain has swelled the River Tame and as we are situated right in the middle of a flood plain between the Tame and the Trent , the Grove is underwater again for the second time this year. Last year we had 9 floods!

We have received a framed medal collection honouring Tommy Gould VC. The miniature medals are replicas and the frame features Tommy and his citation. Kind offers only please as this was donated to help raise funds for continual improvement of the Grove.

8th November 2025. We have planted a Stone Pine that will eventually form a Canopy above the memorial honouring the 2 SAS French Squadron that will be installed in the new year.

Reconnaissance

The lovely Ash tree stands proud above the Reconnaissance Corps and the 46th Reconnaissance Regiment Memorials after they have been repositioned after a brief time beside the Sun Room.

We are pleased to have refitted after extensive refurbishment four very important plaques. These can be viewed in the Special Operations garden and the Resistance Gardens.

The White Ensign Lodge 9169 honours Tommy Gould VC of the Submarine Service RN for his bravery during WW2.

Flying Officer Bill Franklin DFC was a experienced RAF Navigator on a mission to drop a Special Intelligence Agent into occupied Norway during WW2.
